Terrain Types

These terrain types are specific to the wasted Imperial planet Vulcallus. Other campaigns in other systems might encounter a different set of environments.

Imperial Refineries, denoted with an —R on the map, give a +1 bonus to relic discovery during exploration. Roll a d6 for terrain set-up:

  • 1-2: Battle takes place at the defensive military perimeter.
  • 3-6: Battle takes place in the refinery or factory interior.

Refineries make up 3 hexes for every 15 generated and cannot be adjacent to other refinery hexes.

Industrial Waste Yards, denoted with a —W on the map, produce an extra 15 RP per turn. Roll a d6 for terrain set-up:

  • 1-2: All water features (i.e. rivers, pools, mud, fountains) are dangerous terrain that ignore armor saves.
  • 3-6: Battle takes place in ordinary industrial terrain.

Waste Yards make up 3 hexes for every 15 generated and must be adjacent to a refinery hex.

Fungal Forests, denoted with an —F on the map, confer a +1 to deployment rolls for xenos factions. Roll a d6 for terrain set-up:

  • 1-2: Battle takes place in a sparsely forested zone. Arrange d6+2 dinosaurs near the center of the board.
  • 3-6: Battle takes place in a densely forested zone.

Fungal Forests make up 4 hexes for every 15 generated and must be adjacent to another forest hex.

Paleo Villages, denoted with a —V on the map, give a +1 bonus to special ruin discovery during exploration. Roll a d6 for terrain set-up:

  • 1-3: Battle takes place around a country estate lightly forested.
  • 4-6: Battle takes place around a village square in a dense urban environment.

Paleo Villages make up 5 hexes for every 15 generated.
